THE AEROS ORGANIZATION was founded over 30 years ago when it was not common to see girls playing competitive hockey. Our organization was founded by parents who were searching for a place where their daughters could play a sport that they loved with a passion. They wanted their daughters to have the opportunity: to enjoy playing a competitive sport to develop elite hockey skills to develop good life skills that would take them to leadership roles in the future Our Senior Aeros team was founded in 1974 when girls hockey was just starting to grow and that team has established an amazing standard of excellence while achieving numerous League Championships and Provincial Championships. The Senior Aeros team has contributed many players to Team Canada and other Canadian National Programs. The current status of the Senior team is in doubt, however, as the National Women's Hockey League, in which the team had competed since the League's inception in 1999, has suspended operations for the coming season 2007-08. Our Junior Aeros team was founded in 1991 and has also developed a reputation for winning Championships at the league, provincial and tournament levels. In the past ten years, the Junior Aeros team has graduated over 100 players to university programs across Canada and the USA. Our Midget Aeros team was founded in 2001 and has won a league championship or provincial championship in every year of its existence. Every year, several Midget Aeros players graduate to university programs or to the Junior Aeros team. We are very proud of the Tradition of Excellence we have established with all three teams! Our Aeros tradition is recognized throughout the womens hockey world and our graduates have gone on to wonderful achievements in hockey, university and business.
The Aeros Organization The three Aeros teams have always enjoyed a long tradition of close affiliation while sharing the Aeros name, the logo, the jersey colours, and a close working relationship amongst staff members. Aeros Senior AAA As mentioned in the introduction above, the National Women's Hockey League has suspended operations following the end of the 2006-07 season. Therefore, there is some uncertainty concerning the future status of our Senior AAA team, which competed in the 2006-07 season as the Mississauga Aeros. We hope that the NWHL setback is temporary, and that the Aeros Senior AAA team will have the opportunity of taking to the ice in the very near future, once again to take its place at the forefront of women's hockey in Canada. Our Aeros parents are invited to take an active role as volunteers for scorekeeping, fundraising, hosting team get-togethers and game-day operations. The cost of playing on the Junior Aeros or the Midget Aeros is comparable to other elite level teams in the area.
